Calliope is one of the nine Muses, the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. Mt. Parnassus is sacred to them. Calliope is the muse of epic poetry and eloquence. Calliope is the oldest muse, and is considered to have the best singing voice among them. She loves to write, and carries a stylus and tablets. Her name means "fine voice" in Greek. She is the mother of Orpheus by Apollo. |
