Cupid is the god of desire and the boy-god of love. He is the son of Venus and either Mars or Mercury. He was adapted by the Romans after the god Eros. Cupid's scared stone is opal.

Cupids are commonly found on coffins, and represent life after death.

In art, Cupids are portrayed as baby boys with wings carrying a quiver of arrows and a bow.
