Kheper is a Creator god, and a god of Change, Compassion, Healing, Literacy, Miracles, Reincarnation, the Sun, and Transformation. His sacred animals include crabs, dolphins, fish, lobsters, scarab beetles, scorpions, sphinxes, turtles, and wolves. Kheper represents the rising sun. He is thought to have no parents; he was created out of his own will and substance.

In art, Kheeper appears as either a scarab beetle, a scarab beetle-headed man, or a man with a scarab beetle over his head.
