Nekhbet is the Goddess of Childbirth, Motherhood, and Protection. Her sacred animal is the vulture. Nekhbet represents the direction South. She is the daughter of Ra, and the wife of Hapi. She is the twin sister of the cobra goddess Buto. In art Nekhbet is usually shown as a vulture with a headdress, though she can also appear as a women wearing either the white crown of Upper Egypt or a Vulture Headdress. |
