Njord is one of the Vanir, and god of the winds, fire, sea, wealth, fertility, harvest, riches, and weather. He is also the personification of summer. Njord and his son Freyr were traded to the Aesir at the end of the war between the Aesir and Vanir. He is married to Skadi.

In art, Njord appears as a handsome man in a short green tunic. He sometimes wears a crown of seashells and seaweed, or a brown brimmed hat with eagle/heron feathers.
