Ops is the goddess of the harvest, abundance, plenty, and fertility. She is the mother of Jupiter. She is thought to be a wife of Saturn or of Consus. Romans invoked Ops by saying a prayer while touching the earth. In art Ops appears as a woman sitting on a throne and holding a sceptre, a globe, and/or and sheaf of wheat. Her festivals were held on August 25th (Opisconsivia) and December 19th (Opalia). |
